The Men’s Team sent 15 rowers to the Penninsula Indoor Rowing Championships on Super Bowl Sunday. This annual event is a 2K erg test for youth, collegiate, and masters rowers in the Bay Area.
This day turned out to be a historic milestone for the Men’s Team. More guys competed this year than in any previous year. Twelve of our men turned in better 2K times than the season’s first 2K test two weeks before. Eight achieved personal best times — three others were only 1/2-2 seconds off their personal best.
Newcomer Hector Scott turned in the best 2K time in EBRC history.
Wyatt Hume, who rowed on the Australian National Team in the 1970s, earned an invitation to the 2016 Crash-B World Indoor Rowing Championship in Boston — another first for an EBRC rower. Based on his 2K score Sunday, Wyatt is currently #1 on the Concept 2 Indoor Rower Rankings for men ages 70-79, making him the fastest ranked 2K rower in the world in his age group.
Well done, gentlemen!
